Keen Intellect : Haruhi, much like her mother Tochi, has shown through early signs to possess a brilliant mind. At only a year old, she is already capable of forming simple correct sentences that are understandable by adults. She has proven to be able to connect deeply with peers and pets, as shown when she cried the guild members' names as she left with her mother. She was also told to need less sleep than other kids, to possess a vivid imagination, high curiosity and a good memory.

- Haruhi's name is written with 春 (Haru) and 火 (Hi), respectively meaning "spring" and "fire". The first part of her name which is also her nickname, coupled with her middle name Tsuto that's written 苞 ("bract"), alludes to the Tate family's nature theme. When shortened into her second nickname, Tsu (津) it means "harbor". Hi (火), meanwhile, is a reference to Natsu's magic and thus, Natsu himself. It might imply the kinship between Haruhi and him, an idea enforced by the bright pink hair they share.
- Tsuto was also formed out of the names of the two mages, with "tsu" being extracted from "Natsu" and "to" from "Tochi", also possibly hinting at their parentage.
- Haruhi first shared her first name with Haru Nashi Dragneel in another fan work of the same author, and with the protagonist of Rave Master, Haru Glory, another manga created by Mashima. It was recently changed to Haruhi to avoid repetition.
- Haruhi was first meant to have Tsuchi (土, "ground") or Tsuto (苞, "bract") as a first name. Only the latter was kept as a middle name.
- Haruhi's favorite colors are green, red and orange.
